Dr. LeBlanc is Vice-President Research and Academic Affairs, Capital District Health Authority, Halifax, and Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Dalhousie University.
Dr LeBlanc, senior ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, was Professor and Head, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Dalhousie University from 1979 to 2003. He is well known both nationally and internationally for his work as leader of the Dalhousie Glaucoma Research Team. Over the past decade, Dr LeBlanc has been very active in spearheading initiatives to develop new models of vision care both provincially and nationally. He chaired the National Coalition for Vision Health from 1999 to 2004, is a past president of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, the Canadian Glaucoma Society, and has been a board member of a number of international glaucoma societies.
In 2005, he was awarded the Order of Canada.
Since September 2006, Dr. LeBlanc is the Vice-President for Research and Academic Affairs at Capital Health in Halifax where he now heads the District’s Research and Education Initiatives.
