Dr. Mark Shaffer, MD, CCFP, FCFP

Dr. Mark R. Shaffer, MD, CCFP, FCFP is a family doctor who works at North York General Hospital. Although glaucoma is not his medical specialty, glaucoma research is important to Dr. Shaffer as he has close family members who live with the disease. Dr. Shaffer currently holds the position of Executive Secretary for the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada and initiated its largest annual fundraiser, the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, which to date has raised almost $500,000! Fundraising tends to ‘run’ from mid-August until October.
